About PHYSIQ Body Contouring

Before your treatment

  • If the treatment area has coarse, dense hair, it should be shaved.
  • No sun exposure, tanning beds or self-tanning lotions for one month before treatment.
  • Stop using Accutane (isotretinoin) 4 to 6 months before treatment.
  • Remove all metal accessories and electronic devices. Tell us if you have any metal or electronic implants, such as a pacemaker, internal defibrillator or copper IUD.
  • Drink plenty of water for 3 to 4 days before treatment. Divide your weight in pounds by 2 and drink that many ounces of water each day. For example, someone who weighs 140 pounds should drink 70 ounces of water a day.

Possible side effects and risks

  • Some discomfort or pain during and after treatment.
  • Redness (erythema), swelling (edema) or bruising of the treated area.
  • During healing, the treated area may become lighter (hypopigmentation) or darker (hyperpigmentation) than the surrounding skin. This is usually temporary but may be permanent.
  • Burning or blistering of the treated area.
  • Infection is possible whenever the skin surface is disrupted, although proper wound care should prevent it. If you notice signs of infection, such as pain, heat or spreading redness, call our office.
  • Muscle soreness or pain.
  • Changes under the skin, such as nodules, firmness, hardness or unevenness.

Between treatments

Massage the treated area twice a day between treatment sessions with the lotion provided at your first treatment. This is essential for the best results.
