About Dermaplaning

Before your treatment

  • Stop using Retin-A, tretinoin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid or any other cell turnover products one week before treatment.
  • Come to your appointment with a clean, makeup-free face.

After your treatment

  • Avoid exercise for 12 to 24 hours after the procedure. Otherwise, you may resume your daily activities or return to work immediately.
  • Mineral makeup can be applied after treatment. If you feel discomfort after applying makeup, remove it immediately.
  • Sunscreen will be applied to your skin before you leave. Protect your skin every day with a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure. Avoid all tanning, including tanning beds, during your course of treatments.
  • Use a gentle cleanser, a hydrating moisturizer and sunscreen.
  • Do not use alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, benzoyl peroxide or topical acne medications for 3 to 7 days after treatment. You may restart these products once all sensitivity has gone away.
  • You may restart prescription retinoid products (such as Retin-A, Renova, tretinoin, Avita or Alustra) and non-prescription retinoid products (such as adapalene, Avage or Differin) 7 days after your last treatment, or as instructed by your technician.
  • Do not wax, have electrolysis or use other hair removal methods for 4 weeks. When you start again, tell your technician that you recently had an exfoliating facial treatment.
  • Do not get Dysport, Botox or injectable fillers for two weeks after your exfoliating treatment.
