Pre- & post-care instructions

Splendor X Laser Hair Reduction

Please read these instructions before your Splendor X Laser Hair Reduction appointment and keep them handy afterward.

Before your treatment

  • Shave the entire area you want treated the day before your appointment.
  • Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen before and after your treatments.
  • No natural or artificial tanning, including tanning beds and spray tans, for 2 to 3 weeks before your session.
  • Avoid cell turnover or exfoliating products, such as Retin-A, alpha or beta hydroxy acids, toners or any irritating products, for one week before.
  • Do not apply perfume, deodorant or makeup to the treatment area on the day of your appointment.

After your treatment

  • Right after treatment, you may have slight redness, swelling around the hair follicles and mild discomfort similar to a sunburn. Cool packs may be applied.
  • You may notice the smell of burnt hair during and right after your session. This is normal.
  • Do not rub or pick the treated area. Do not use loofahs or abrasive scrubs for at least 5 days.
  • Avoid strenuous sports and hot water, saunas and hot tubs for 2 days.
  • Call our office if the area shows signs of infection or blistering.
  • Keep using sunscreen throughout your course of treatments.

Scheduling your next treatment

  • After treatment, hair may appear to keep growing for up to two weeks. This is the treated hair shedding from the follicle — not necessarily new growth.
  • Shaving is recommended between sessions and the day before your next appointment.
  • Avoid electrolysis, waxing, threading, tweezing and plucking between sessions. Shaving is encouraged.

Maintenance treatments

Five treatments is the standard number for most people to see the best results. A sixth or even seventh treatment may be needed depending on how thick and coarse the hair is at the start.

Maintenance treatments will be needed after you complete the first 5 treatments. How often depends on the person and could range from 1 to 3 or more treatments a year, depending on the area and hair density at the start. Hormone changes and hormonal medical conditions, known or unknown, can also affect hair regrowth.

If you have questions or concerns about your treatment, call us at 501-817-3923. If you have a medical emergency, call 911.
