• Treatment area should be clean shaven if treating an area with coarse, dense hair.
• No sun exposure, tanning bed use or use of self-tanning lotions for one month prior to treatment.
• Stop using accutane 4-6 months prior to treatment.
• Remove all metallic accessories and electronic devices. Please inform us if you have any metallic or electronic implants (such as pacemaker, internal defibrillator, copper IUD, etc).
• Drink plenty of water 3-4 days prior to treatment. Divide your weight by 2 and drink that many ounces of water daily. For example, someone weighing 140 pounds would need to drink 70 ounces of water daily.
The procedure may result in the following adverse experiences or risks:
• Some discomfort and/or pain may be experienced during and after treatment.
• Redness (erythema), swelling (edema) or bruising of the treated area may occur.
• During the healing process, there is a possibility that the treated area may become either lighter (hypopigmentation) or darker (hyperpigmentation) in color compared to the surrounding skin. This is usually temporary, but it may be permanent.
• Treatment can result in burning or blistering of the treated area(s).
• Infection is a possibility whenever the skin surface is disrupted, although proper wound care should prevent this. If signs of infection develop, such as pain, heat, or surrounding redness, please call our office.
• Muscle soreness, pain
• Subcutaneous tissue - nodules, firmness, hardness, asymmetry
• Massage the treated area twice daily between treatment sessions with lotion that is provided at your first treatment. This is imperative for optimal results.
